The Rattes' 1910 Colonial Revival came with two mysteries — what it looked like before "remuddling" and the reclusive older woman living in the house next door. Margaret, that neighbor, held the key to both. Ninety-five years old, she has occupied her home since the age of fourteen and maintains it in virtually original condition (including the lawn, which she still cuts with a push mower). Margaret's house was also built in 1910 with an interior identical to the Rattes', providing a walk-in blueprint for Jeff's restoration work. This is the Rattes' "rejuvenated" entryway.
