Houses
A "style" of our own creation, Period Basics homes possess classic old-house qualities without showing bold features of any one style over another, and are often identified more by their type than their style — cottage, foursquare, farmhouse, or bungalow.
Period Basics houses can be found on street after street in older neighborhoods across the country. Often honest and direct with minimal ornamentation, they were typically built as affordable alternatives to more elaborate designs, and embody undeniable charm in their homey feel, functional practicality, and under-stated character.
Light Fixtures
With these fixtures, the style is as much about function as it is about form. They're a great example of the fact that something made for sheer utility can have a beauty of its own. The style may be simple, but it's definitely not plain, and the no-nonsense features make these fixtures supremely versatile and enduring. There's a reason this style has been hugely popular for over a hundred years.
How does it feel?
Clean and uncluttered.
Where does it come from?
These fixtures are a collection more than a real style, and they date back to anywhere between the 1890s and the 1950s. That may seem like a vague historical reference, but the truth is, they've been so popular for so long that to pin them to one tidy little time frame doesn't do them justice. They have become classics in their own right.
