Industrial Strength Genius

That's what we thought when we saw this drawing in an old lighting catalog. This classic turn-of-the-20th century design was popularly known as a "cluster" fixture. In the early 1900s it took a cluster of exposed carbon-filament bulbs to properly light a work area. Most manufacturers offered variations on this theme, combining as many as seven sockets with large reflector shades made of opal glass, metal or mirrored segments.

About The Name

Our Ceiling fixtures are named for streets and neighborhoods in Portland, Oregon, and Menlo Avenue is right off a beautiful boulevard that looks over the Willamette River. But there's also a nod to history in the name. Thomas Edison was known as the "Wizard of Menlo Park", which was the New Jersey site of his home and laboratory where he experimented with incandescent light bulbs.
