Though it's an awful sounding word, gadrooning just means adding a decorative motif consisting of convex curves in a series. This sweet technique was widely used during the Italian Renaissance and in the 18th century. Our gadrooned shade is handmade at a family-owned factory in West Virginia, which is fitting, as we have reason to believe its original was handblown at the Jefferson Glass Company, also of West Virginia.

Classic Revival design was meant to mimic the ideals of ancient Greek and Roman architecture. Rather than heaping detail upon detail, Classic Revival fixtures pick an element - be it the curve of an elegant shade holder or an acanthus leaf motif - and emphasize it with a simplicity of design. This focus makes them adaptable to many spaces and contexts.

Tip: This shade has an unusual fitter size (8 inches), which will work with only a few of our fixtures (and possibly some antique fixtures - but measure first!)
