Pagoda Mirror

Item #E0424

Description

This mirror represents the crossroads of naturalism and chinoiserie. French for "Chinese-esque," chinoiserie emerged in the 17th and 18th centuries as the Far East began to capture the imagination of European tastemakers. Elaborately painted, lacquered, and carved, chinoiserie has influenced designers from Thomas Chippendale to Frank Lloyd Wright. Our mirror, with its pagoda-like shape, hails from that tradition, while its unpainted wood frame pays homage to the natural beauty of the material in a way that Wright himself might have appreciated.

No matter their style, mirrors are among decorators' most beloved tricks of the trade. They bounce light, making a room feel bigger and brighter (and give you a handy spot to check your hair).
