Deco Drum Shade with Old Brass Ring Item # B2555
This audaciously oversized shade debuted in the 1935 Incandescent Supply Company catalogue. Dubbed "The Wonder Unit," it's made of an opaque handblown glass drum connected to an etched glass lens by a brass ring. Such innovative construction creates the effect of bright, diffuse daylight – a first in the '30s and just as marvelous today.
For maximum presence, large-scale pendants need large-scale shades. In the 1910s and '20s, places of business and learning would have dressed to impress with extra-large fixtures that put out lots of light. Today they're just as impressive, whether they hang in study hall or your front hall.
- Handblown Opal drum and Etched lens
- 6" fitter
- Brass ring in 13 hand-applied finishes
The lens and lens ring are removable, so you can change the bulb from underneath, rather than removing the entire shade.
