Description

A gas/electric-style fixture, the Detroit handily provides two light sources with its vertical design, which washes ambient light both up and down. It particularly shines when paired over a mantel or next to a mirror.

Early American homes were lit by gas, and when electricity came on the scene, fixtures were designed to use both technologies. Gas would be used for day-to-day lighting needs, and electric was used to impress the neighbors.  Though we build them to be 100% electric, gas/electric-style fixtures give you a traditional look while while filling your entire room with light.

Tips:

A standard A19 bulb can peek over the top of short gas shades. Use a small, clear globe bulb in the gas-style part of the lamp if you want the light source to disappear into the shade, or a flicker bulb for the gas look.

For a matching chandelier, see the Cascade.

For a simpler gas/electric look, try the Cape Meares or the Astoria.
