Carved Cedar Corbel, c.1880s

Item #F0058

Description

You can't help but want to run your hands over this extraordinary piece of salvage. It came off of an early 1900s Portland building, where it was likely part of a larger ornamental scheme involving pediments and columns. Made of carved raw cedar, the volute (or scrollwork) wears its years proudly, with chips and scratches that attest to the storms it has weathered and distance it has traveled.
