Pair of American Optical Protective Glasses With Case C1920 Item # F0360
The American Optical Company, born in 1826 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, has had as illustrious a history as the United States itself – and they still operate today. From factory workers to astronauts, American Optical has created protective eye wear for almost every kind of application. This charming pair, which date from the early 20th century, would have been used in a manufacturing setting. Just as remarkable as the glasses is the stamped steel case that has survived with them. We love the instructions on the front panel: "Wear these goggles; protect your eyes." A wonderful relic of early American industry, and useful, too!
Condition notes: The glasses are well-worn, with a few scraps and scratches in the lenses – all commensurate with age.
