Bright Red Fiberglass Shell Chair W/ Chrome Base C1960 Item # F0614
Inspired by one of the most iconic designers of the 20th century (Charles & Ray Eames), this fiberglass shell chair is perfectly proportioned to compliment any style of home. Our edition is made by Adirondack, a mid-century company that manufactured commercial furnishings in New York.
Charles and Ray Eames' collection of shell side and armchairs met many of the design challenges of the day: creating furniture at the new standard of modern design while implementing new materials. The ultimate goal was to create a chair made completely out of a single casting of one material. While the Shell line did not meet that challenge (it would be Verner Panton's chair made of a single sheet of molded plastic that won the day), the molded shell chairs persist as masterpieces of the mid century.
- Historical Style: Mid-Century Modern
- Condition notes: Nice vintage condition. Some scratches in the fiberglass and chrome, but all wear in commensurate with age.
