Simple, ubiquitous, iconic. The 40/4 Stacking Chair by David Rowland is one of the most familiar and reliable decorative arts designs of the 20th century. A contemporary of Eames, Saarenin and Knoll, David Rowland studied under Norman Bel Geddes before before embarking on his own journey of Industrial Design. The 40/4 Stacking Chair is by far the most celebrated of his works and, after winning almost every prestigious design award available in the 1960's, was granted patents and production rights in countries all over the world. Our editions date from the late 1960's and feature a molded steel seat and back rest on a matte black bent steel frame. The set stacks together easily, making these chairs as versatile as they are comfortable and modern.
