Wood and Iron Foreman's Desk W/ Pencil Sharpener C1915 Item # F5551
We love when our antiques show their age, and this salvaged Foreman's Desk is a perfect example of how time plus use can often equal beauty. The wear on the layers of paint demonstrates years of hard work, and we've taken care to restore and preserve this piece so that it will offer it's next owner years more. This desk also offers another lesson: utility is not always devoid of design – the base features ornately worked strap iron, which twists and curls in appealing and unexpected ways. The desk itself lifts to reveal ample storage space and, affixed to the work surface, is one of the totems of early American industry: the pencil sharpener. Not just any pencil sharpener, this is a "Wizard," from the Automatic Pencil Sharpener Company of Chicago, Illinois, patent date 1919.
While this desk has already put in a century of hard work, its rustic charm and utilitarian form are still relevant today. Now, get to work.
Condition notes: Perfectly worn and weathered – the wear on this piece reminds us of its history and authenticity.
