Early Heywood Bros. and Wakefield Office Chair c1905 Item # G0365

For a short time before they became known as the Heywood-Wakefield Company, the Gardner, Massachusetts furniture manufacture was operating under the name Heywood Brothers & Wakefield. This beautiful oak office chair hails from that era. One of the most prolific furniture makers in U.S. history, Heywood-Wakefield responded to trends throughout the 20th century, drawing inspiration from almost every style and movement. This example is made from red and white oak and features a popular form from their turn-of-the-century line: a simple, lightweight spine, which flexes and reclines to accommodate the sitter.

  • Historical Style: Classic
  • Condition notes: Wonderful condition. We retrofitted the chair with a new white oak back rest.
