Comb-Back Windsor Side Chair

Item #D1123

Description

The quintessential Colonial era design, our comb-back Windsor chair is crafted in West Virginia of sustainably harvested Appalachian maple. It is thought that 16th-century wheelrights introduced the practice of turning chair spindles on a lathe, as they turned spokes for wheels. Because the spindles and legs are round-tenoned, or fit into drilled holes, Windsor chairs allow for more delicacy of line than a standard chair where the back legs and uprights are carved from a single piece.
