Description

"Fancy" cast iron bin pulls like these became popular during the 1870s, and despite the waning of their Neo-Grec style, were sold until nearly the turn of the century. The interwoven and flattened decorative flourishes are typical of vernacular Neo-Grec design trends of the decade, which would be supplanted by the more exotic Anglo-Japanese and Eastlake-inspired Aesthetic Movement in the 1880s. A robust and distinctive design.
