Set of 6 Cast Iron Eastlake Bin Pulls, c1878

Item #R0996

Description

We'll be the first to admit that the subtle differences between Neo-Grec, Eastlake, and Aesthetic Movement design can be hard to parse - to the modern eye, it all just looks "Victorian" (which is just a synonym for "fancy" right?). However, we are actually going to call these true Eastlake - their motif is too geometric for Neo-Grec and not Japanese enough for the Aesthetic Movement. Rather, they seem solidly in that Gothick/Medieval-inspired middle ground that English author Charles Eastlake advocated (and Americans misinterpreted) so heartily in the 1870s. Of course, they look great as drawer pulls too.

Finish: Some original varnish and enamel remains over cast iron.
