Exactly the type of exuberantly ornamental fixture that defines "fancy Victorian" for many, this lovely chandelier can perhaps be better appreciated now that more than 100 years have passed since its look when out of fashion. Designed in a style that would have been marketed as Rococo at the turn of the century (or possibly Louis XV), this wonderful fixture features finely executed brass castings and retains much of its original gilt finish. The four gas arms and four electric arms have been fitted with a hard-to-find set of matching pressed glass shades moulded to resemble cut crystal. Photographed with authentic carbon-filament bulbs exactly like the ones it would have originally used, this chandelier gives a good impression of how different (and "right") period fixtures and glass look when fitted with the bulbs they were designed for. Rare and exceptional.
