War-Era Light Peach Center-Post Bowl Chandelier, c1940

Item #R1550

Description

Center-post shades (the glass typically hangs from a center post through a hole in the shade, fixed on by a finial) were popular from around 1935 into the early 1950s. The most common sizes were small 1-light and 2-light fixtures used in bedrooms and hallways, especially as replacements for older obsolete styles, Larger multi-light bowl chandeliers were used in dining rooms. The shades are usually heavy pressed designs with a mix of tinted or etched glass and clear decorative areas.
