Pair of Sargent & Co Sparks Patent Sash Locks, c1872 Item # R1863
For a while there in the 1870s and 1880s, the country was swept by a proliferation of novel designs for the basic task of locking a window sash. William Sparks patented his variation on the theme in 1872 and assigned to Sargent & Company, who keep it in their line for many years. The porcelain knobs have nothing to do with the patented functionality, but sure are cool.
- Historical Style: Victorian: Neo-Grec
