Revival-Style Chain Pendant w/Green Acanthus Shade, c1922 Item # R1967
Pendant fixtures with beautiful stamped Classical Revival parts and decorated shades were popular as classic traditional design and experiments with color swept interiors during the 1920s. Often combining Classical Revival and Colonial Revival influences, both fixtures and shades featured modified motifs based on egg & dart molding, acanthus leaves, and scrolling flourishes like this example. These fixtures were often used in commercial settings and apartment buildings, and also in residential sunrooms, entries, stairwells and hallways.
This example has an vented decorative shadeholder fitted with a satin opal shade with deeply molded acanthus leaves hand highlighted in green.
- Historical Style: Classical Revival
