Moe-Bridges Polychrome 5-Light Wrought Flush Mount, c1927

Item #R1985

Description

Romantic wrought iron Revival-style fixtures were incredibly popular in the late-1920s, and designs with exposed globe bulbs and rich antique polychrome finishes like this example were common. Colorful and expressive, this particular fixture was made by Moe-Bridges of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and features the classic stamped leaves, dainty florets, and twisted iron rod typical of the style. It has the added distinction of being a tight semi-flush design, which has visual depth and interest while sitting just off the surface of the ceiling, allowing it to be used in locations where low ceilings or a shorter desired length make solutions tougher to find.

With 5 lights, this fixture will put out a nice amount of light and hold its place visually in a good-sized living room, dining room, or even large bedroom. It would be right at home in one of the countless English, Colonial, Mediterranean or other Historic Revival houses that dotted the automobile suburbs of the 1920s and early 1930s.
