Cast Revival-Style Polychrome Beam Light, c1927 Item # R2034

Sometimes it's just a small room or low-ceilinged spot that needs a touch of Jazz Age glamour, and a suspended multi-bulb extravaganza is too over the top. "Beam lights" were the 1920s and 1930s solution for these scenarios, spiffing up an entry, stairway, hall, bedroom or powder room with simple style.

Often sold as replacement fixtures for earlier, dimmer lights from the decades before, beam lights suited the smaller rooms and lower ceilings of the time. Many were sold by Sears and Montgomery Ward by mail order, usually offered as one item in a larger coordinating family of fixtures.

This example imitates the look of wrought iron and has a light bronze gilt treatment with subtle polychrome highlights.
