We could have just as easily called this one-of-a-kind wonder the "belle" shade, in honor of its enchanting sparkle. But behind the glimmer is a scientific wonder. Its prismatic angles were designed to reflect the most light, thus amplifying the dim glow of early bulbs. Indeed, some early manufacturers claimed that shades like this could actually double the candlepower of a lamp.

Called a "prism hood," this type of shade was designed to hang directly on the neck of the light bulb – no shade holder required. And while the shade thus takes center stage, it also means not all modern bulbs will fit.

Shown on our Burnside fixture and with the bulb that will work best, both sold separately.
