Ripples Prism Hood Shade R2284, c1900 Item # R2284
Flower buds opening, ball gowns fluttering, water rippling – this antique glass shade brings a lot of metaphors to mind, all of them pretty. As poetic as it appears, it has a practical side, too (lots of them, in fact). The multitude of prismatic angles were designed to reflect the most light, thus amplifying the dim glow of early bulbs.
Called a "prism hood," this type of shade was designed to hang directly on the neck of the light bulb – no shade holder required. And while the shade thus takes center stage, it also means not all modern bulbs will fit.
Shown on our Burnside fixture and with the bulb that will work best, both sold separately.
- Note: Shown on our Burnside fixture (A2340) and with our40W A15 Clear Bulb, 2pk. (C5435), both sold separately
- Historical Style: Period Basic
