Description

Outstanding examples of the boldly angular and forward-looking Modernistic lighting that we call Art Deco today (a term that wasn’t coined until the late 1960s), these cast aluminum sconces – sometimes called wall pockets in their day – feature assertive styling and frosted glass panels to soften the light. This style was being explored throughout Europe in the early 1920s, but didn’t really break out in the United States until about 1929 – the same time as the Great Depression. It is hard to find even one of these archetypal Art Deco designs, more or less three matching.
