Art Deco Contrast-Glass Shade Pendant, c1930 Item # R2376
Typically, we would refer to a light fixture with one arm and one shade as a pendant. But this antique seems to deserve a more elevated appellation. "Pendalier," perhaps? The gilt finish on the fixture contributes to the luxe look, but what really takes this light into chandelier territory is the skyscraper shade. Opaque at the top and clear glass on the bottom, it's almost like two shades in one. Besides making this piece undeniably fancy, the two-tone shade also creates a lovely quality of light: diffuse and ambient radial glow from the creamy upper portion, and prettily fractured downlight from the clear lower portion.
- Historical Style: Art Deco
