Chalkware Radio Lamp w/ Trio of Horses C1940s

Item #R2761

Description

When technology became common place in the 1930's and '40's, consumers were afraid that the low glow emitting from radios and televisions would damage their eye sight. So, charming Radio and Television Lamps like this one became popular, adding a little more light to the room and often serving the dual purpose of decorating the otherwise "homely" technology. This little number features a trio of handsome horses, crafted from chalkware and hand painted. The horse shoe that frames the lamp also serves as a fitter for a piece of frosted glass, which diffuses the light from the low-watt bulb behind it.
