Cast Aluminum Ship Television Lamp C1940s

Item #R2977

Description

When technology became common place in the 1930's and '40's, consumers were afraid that the low glow emitting from radios and televisions would damage their eye sight. So, charming Radio and Television Lamps like this one became popular, adding a little more light to the room and often serving the dual purpose of decorating the otherwise "homely" technology. Made from cast aluminum and hand-painted with polychrome highlights, this noble galleon sails onto the scene with sweet period charm. Our favorite detail? The pull chain protruding where the anchor should be.
