Description

With its scrolling strap work and period polychrome finish, this rather unusual wrought iron chandelier is typical of its era, yet has a quirky style all its own. Nicely scaled for the smaller homes of the 1920s, it might have hung in a nook off a dining room in its day, but we can even see it as a sweet little entry fixture today.

A romantic mix of Mediterranean and Old World influences, Historic Revival fixtures usually featured boldly decorative wrought or cast metal work, artfully polychromed in a range of antique gilt finishes with colorful highlights. They were popular in the rapidly expanding automobile suburbs of the 1920s, in bungalows, cottages and stuccoed haciendas across the country.
