A classic functional pendant common in countless early-20th-century commercial and industrial settings, and now quite hard to find. To increase the light output of single-socket cord pendants like this, porcelain-insulated cluster sockets by companies like Benjamin would be screwed in beneath the reflector shade, allowing the use of multiple bulbs on one cord - in this case two.

With two and a half times as much output, tungsten "squirrel cage" or Mazda-type bulbs began to replace earlier carbon-filament bulbs like the ones shown here after about 1910.
