Prom Queen Television Lamp C1952 Item # R3201

When technology became common place in the 1930's and '40's, consumers were afraid that the low glow emitting from radios and televisions would damage their eye sight. So, charming Radio and Television Lamps like this one became popular, adding a little more light to the room and often serving the dual purpose of decorating the otherwise "homely" technology. This chalkware masterpiece is one of the most iconic styles of the 1950's: the Prom Queen. Each Prom Queen was hand painted, so every girl was different. We love our red-haired beauty, holding an armful of yellow roses. The figure obscures a small globe light bulb, which gives off subtle light, bringing Mid-Century glamour to any room. Signed with the designer's name, Bertie Butorac.

  • Historical Style: Mid Century
  • Notes: Note imperfection in the plaster just below her bow, shown in the second image
