Description

By the mid to late 19th century, electric lighting was becoming more common place and companies began emerging to capitalize on the need for commercial electric light fixtures. Acme Illumination., I.P. Frink and Wheeler Reflector Co. all emerged just before the turn of the century to develop iconic paneled-mirror reflectors, which continue to command attention today. While we are unable to specifically attribute the maker of this particular shade, this pendant is exemplary of the lighting created by those companies in the 1890's. The interior of the shade has a faceted mirrored surface, which would have maximized the output of the still-developing bulb technology. A fantastic piece of early industrial-era lighting, perfect for a kitchen nook or work space today.

Note: all original mirrors are intact, but the silver backing has aged appropriately. See detail photo for mirror condition. Socket shell is old, but internal workings have been replaced.
