Compact Rococo Chandelier In Japanned Copper c1905 Item # R4224
Exactly the type of exuberantly ornamental fixture that defines "fancy Victorian" for many, perhaps this lovely chandelier can be better appreciated now that more than 100 years have passed since its look went out of fashion. Designed in a style that would have been marketed as Rococo at the turn of the century (or possibly Louis XV), this wonderful fixture features finely executed brass castings and retains much of its original Japanned copper finish. The four electric arms have been fitted with a set of matching delicate etched and ruffled shades. Photographed with authentic carbon-filament bulbs exactly like the ones it would have originally used, this chandelier gives a good impression of how different (and "right") period fixtures and glass look when fitted with the bulbs they were designed for.
- Historical Style: Victorian: Rococo
- Notes: Socket finish is replicated
