Elegant Semi-Indirect Camphor Bowl Fixture C1913 Item # R5028

Combining the two hottest lighting trends of its time - bowl shades and shower fixtures with multiple drops - this beautiful chandelier would have been a classic choice for bungalow, foursquare, or Classical Revival dining rooms between 1910 and 1920. The fixture itself boasts elegant stamped details in a lovely Egg & Dart motif shown with a matching set of Camphor shades. These fixtures were rarely done better or more substantially than when the shade was made of heavy, semi-opaque cast glass like this example. Sometimes called "camphor glass" or Moonstone, this type of glass was whiter and more opaque than frosted or etch clear glass, but warmer and more translucent than white or opal glass. Cast in highly detailed molds, this glass had the same permanence and substance that the Classical Revival sought to embody in all of its aspects.

  • Historical Style: Classical Revival
