Antoinette Wright, Director of Human Resources
Antoinette's career trajectory at Rejuvenation is atypical for a person with an accounting background. After joining Rejuvenation in 1999 as an Accounting Manager, she was promoted to Controller in 2001, where she was responsible for the Accounting and Human Resources departments. In 2006, Antoinette's job evolved again, and she became Director of Human Resources.
Regarding her current role, Antoinette says, "As an accountant, I had always thought of myself as more of a left-brain person, but Human Resources actually feels more right-brained to me, and for that reason, more challenging."
It's fair to say she has risen to the occasion. It's also fair to say that both sides of her brain get a workout, since she is responsible for overseeing Rejuvenation's varied and diverse workforce. In particular, Antoinette finds it rewarding to recruit employees directly from local refugee organizations. This allows Rejuvenation to tap into people from all over the world, and the company's commitment to craftsmanship greatly benefits from the unique skills they bring to their jobs. Antoinette also enjoys the multitude of creative personalities that make this company tick - whether it's the folks who help create our beautiful stores, recreate our stunning one-of-kind products, or produce our handsome, high-quality catalogue. Antoinette finds her role endlessly engaging, since she continually seeks out high-caliber employees that raise the company's bar.
A native Oregonian, Antoinette attended the University of Portland and earned degrees in both Accounting and Political Science - not a surprising combination, since it speaks to her affinity for numbers along with people and organizations.
She lives with her husband and dog in a lovely - but not older - home because, she confesses, "although I love and respect older houses, I am emotionally attached to new plumbing and electrical."
