Public School Teachers Receive Donations from Rejuvenation Parents

The company's 12th annual Cash for Kids program supports Portland Public School Classrooms

PORTLAND, OR. (October 20, 2005) - How far can $100 go? Though it may sometimes seem like not far, for Portland Public School teachers, an extra $100 for their classroom might mean a new reading program gets off the ground, an extra field trip gets planned, or art supplies get replenished.

For the past 12 years, Rejuvenation has funded a program called "Cash for Kids" to support local public schools. At the start of every school year, Rejuvenation gives $100 to the classroom of each child of a Rejuvenation employee who is enrolled in the public school system. This year, that amounted to 52 schools receiving 84 checks. Since the program's inception 12 years ago, Rejuvenation has donated approximately $100,000 to local public schools.

"We used the money to purchase music books our students love. It is a terrific tool to engage our diverse student population," says Kathryn Golden, Third Grade Teacher and recipient of the donation in 2004.

The program's only stipulation is that parents are asked to hand-deliver the checks themselves to their child's classroom. Rejuvenation's diverse employee base represents more than 20 different countries around the world. For some of the parents, many of whom speak limited English, Cash for Kids is the first opportunity they get during the school year to visit their children's classrooms and make a connection with their teachers.

"We've enjoyed funding the Cash for Kids program for 12 years," says Jim Kelly, owner and founder of Rejuvenation. "It's a fun and innovative way to demonstrate Rejuvenation's commitment to supporting local public schools and to encourage our employees to get involved with their children's education."
