Rejuvenation Employees Head to Mexico to Build Floors

The company will send a team of employees to Mexico City for a week of service.

Portland, Oregon (April 17, 2008) - Rejuvenation is taking its commitment to community service on the road by lending a hand to the international community.

In the fall of 2006, the Portland-based company partnered with Medical Teams International (MTI) to send a group of twelve employees to New Orleans to aid in the clean-up efforts still needed one year after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. The trip was so successful, that Rejuvenation decided to renew their partnership with MTI to support another community in need.

This year's team of twelve employees will spend one week in Tultitlan, just outside of Mexico City. They will be building 15 cement floors for families living in makeshift homes made from materials found in the Tultitlan Dump. The families are predominantly indigenous people from the mountain regions of Mexico. They moved to the city in hopes of finding work and a higher standard of living, however the job market cannot support the number of families migrating to the city and many are forced to settle in squatter communities on the outskirts of Mexico City, like the one in the Tultitlan Dump.

All trip related costs will be covered by Rejuvenation, and employees will receive full pay for two of the five work days missed. Employees not participating in the trip are helping in other ways by donating their own paid time-off to employees going on the trip, as well as clothing and other goods needed by the families in Tutitlan.

"Advocating for and supporting volunteerism serves Rejuvenation in many ways," says company President, Alysa Rose. "We get to give back to our community, we get to give employees something they really value-the opportunity to give back, and it's the most effective team building experience money can buy."

Rejuvenation has a long history of giving back to the community both through its corporate giving program, which donates ten percent of the company's profits to charity, and through its Days of Service program, which provides company-sponsored days of employee labor to aid various community organizations.
