Exchange Of Power

The 4" fitter shades and globes you'll see here covered the gamut of turn-of-the-century lighting from gas-powered Victorian to Modern electric styles.

In between the shift from gas to electric power was gas/electric lighting, a hybrid that used both sources. Stylistically matched 4" and 2-1/4" fitter shades were paired together on fixtures like the Curtis, Astoria, and Mock's Crest.

Eventually, the 4" fitter size was adopted for electric lighting, enabling the rise of the popular Schoolhouse lighting style.

If I were asked to name the chief benefit of the house, I should say: the house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace.
