This Art Deco opal shade is decorated with an authentic copy of a fired-on, transferred decal. Adding small patterns to shades was done to enhance their appeal without reducing the amount of light.

Decals like ours were originally designed to look like a traditional, more labor intensive stencil. If you enlarge the image, you'll notice the connecting segments - replicated here as part of the design - that would have held a true stencil together.
