Our art glass shades are born of the same techniques that Tiffany, Steuben, and Quezal used from about 1900 to the mid 1920's.

This Magnolia-style "Tulip" (refers to the shape) begins as a gathered clump of gold and white glass. It's rolled in a round wood block, blown into a mould, shaped, and opened on each end.

The glassblower dimples the bottom lip with a fluting mould, and spins thin strips of green glass onto the hot glass surface. A knife dragged across the strips creates the feather pattern, and a tin chloride misting provides its iridescent finish.

Once cooled in an annealing oven, the fitter is smoothed with a diamond saw and signed.

Due to their delicate nature, light with 60W or lower bulbs only. These shades are very narrow, and only some bulbs will fit inside them. We recommend using a T10-style bulb.
