- Classic Opal Bell Shade
- Item # B8382
- price$24
Sometimes referred to as white or "milk" glass, the opal glass used in our BA3924 is a traditional and popular favorite glass style.
Opal and opalescent glass both create a warm glow; however, they're two different glass types. Opal is a glossy, creamy, semi-opaque white, while opalescent is a lustrous or pearlescent finish that is semi-translucent and has an orange "fire" when dimly lit. Adding to the confusion, opalescent glass is often called "Vaseline" glass. While Vaseline glass is opalescent, it also has a custard-like color.
Examples of opal glass can be found on our Imperial and St. Helens, while true opalescent and Vaseline glass occasionally appears in our Antique Lighting pages.
