Unless you live in a sauna, poolside cabana, gymnasium, or house of ill repute, the kitchen and bathroom are likely the most humid and grimy rooms in your home. Over time, the glass shades on your fixtures get dirty and need washing.

Fortunately, a gentle hand washing in warm, soapy water cleans our glass shades, and also makes it easier to remove drips of paint. For stubborn stains, gently-applied four aught (0000) steel wool removes imperfections - though you shouldn't use this technique on painted shades.
