A shade style which was popular well into the 1950s, you could say this 9" Opal Drum Shade is a stylistic bridge between the roundness of some schoolhouse shades and the more angular forms of the Art Deco era.
Opal glass used on shades like this can have slightly noticeable irregularities such as "push" or "cord" lines. These lines, often mistaken for scratches, are a result of refractory glass in the furnace mixing with the gathered glass used in each new shade. This is normal and adds to the beauty and character of the shade.
