GU24 Customer Stories

Happy Ahead Of The Curve

Some customers need a little convincing to make the switch to compact fluorescent lighting, but Nick and Kirsty Papadopulos "like to think in energy-saving terms." So when we introduced GU24 technology as an option on our fixtures, these forward-thinking folks were very interested.

Having already upgraded to efficient household appliances, they were lured by the warm Arts & Crafts appeal of the Columbia updated with GU24 bulbs and sockets. Unlike standard fixtures which can use either CF bulbs or incandescent bulbs, GU24 is permanent energy-efficiency lighting.

Count these dedicated customers among the many who proudly claim to be "very happy" with their fixture, its quality of light, and their decision to go green.

Good Sense Makes Cents

One of our neighbors (and many customers) to the north, Dan Crawford has no qualms about using GU24 fixtures in his home.

The Canadian government has long promoted the use of fluorescent lighting in the home, and Canadians are not as new to the idea as many U.S. residents are. As Dan puts it, energy-efficient CF lighting offers "economical and environmental benefits [that] are too good" to ignore.

He's had some time to settle in with his Lowell, Baxter, and Timberline, all built with GU24 permanent energy-efficiency sockets. And already, this conservation-minded fellow says he's "looking forward to converting more fixtures" in the future.

Do Try This At Home

Patrick Schwinghammer is like a lot of our old-house customers, in that making the change to compact fluorescent lights required some thought.

Living in a historic district, it was important that energy savings didn't cost his house in character or authenticity. He also was a bit wary of jumping on the green bandwagon. Patrick wasn't interested in making a political statement, he just wanted to "make sure the quality of light matched" the environment it illuminated.

Luckily for us (and Patrick) he found his outdoor solutions in the Baxter and Amity, two GU24 art glass fixtures which he says have been "great, nice lighting... family, friends, and visitors can't tell they are compact fluorescents!"

Better By Design

Kathryn Wahnoutka, a designer by trade, was drawn to GU24 compact fluorescent lighting when she set out to work on her own home renovation.

As much as she "loves all Rejuvenation's fixtures" (Thanks, Kathryn!) she's as serious about energy efficiency as she is about good design. After going through the messy process of insulating her home, she wanted her lighting to be energy efficient, too. Our Claybourne and Millikan GU24 fixtures measured up to her high standards.

And what does this detail-oriented designer think about the quality of light that GU24 bulbs provide? Simply put, Kathryn says she is "very happy with GU24 technology."

Proof Positive

Making the decision to switch to compact fluorescent lighting is a challenge for many of our coupled customers, and Bill Geissert and Nancy Mack were no exception.

Bill had a keen interest in energy efficiency, although Nancy was a little concerned about CF color and tone. Ultimately, both decided they were willing to give our GU24 lighting a try.

Apparently, the experiment was a success, and now, several Wilsons grace their home - indoors and outside. Nancy is "very happy" with the quality of light, so much so that this couple has taken to installing compact fluorescent bulbs in many of their other household fixtures.

Cold Comfort

Living in Utah, where Jack Frost can have a mighty cold touch, Sean Tuite was concerned about using GU24 compact fluorescent lights outdoors.

He took a gamble on the Westmoreland. His honest verdict? "While it does take a couple of minutes to warm up, it worked fine through the Winter. And the GU24 bulb through art glass is a good combo - not noticeable!"

If you're on the fence about adopting GU24 technology for whatever reason, ease into it like Sean did: Choose fixtures with colored art glass panels or milk-white opal shades for a warm and cozy feel.

Right On The Money

Dennis Lhuillier had no reservations about making the switch to permanent high-efficiency lighting when we first introduced GU24 fixtures in 2007.

He'd had his eye on the Baxter, O'Neil, and Timberline, and as luck would have it, he was able to snag them all at a discount during our 30th anniversary celebration.

Describing himself as someone who gladly goes green "when it's affordable," Dennis understood that what he saved up-front was just an introduction to the money he'd save on electricity in the long run.

Apparently, his good taste and timing are already paying off in good looks, for he says, "the porch looks really nice."
