Finish Details

Old Brass

Description:

A subtle, olive-brown lacquer coating over a satin-brushed surface that has the elegant appearance of old brass.

Protective Coating:

Baked lacquer with a satin finish.

Wear Expectations:

While no protective coating is perfect or eternal, this is pretty durable.

Maintenance:

Simply wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use brass polish or harsh cleaners and detergents on lacquered surfaces.

Comments:

Lacquer coatings were originally intended to prolong the shelf life of polished goods and to encourage the illusion of "maintenance-free" beauty. The truly wealthy, of course, had servants to polish their brass. Lacquer works best for the rest of us.
