Finish Details

Polished Chrome

Description:

Brass, mirror-polished, nickel-plated, then chrome-plated. Shiny silver with cold, blue undertones.

Protective Coating:

None; can be waxed to protect finish surface.

Wear Expectations:

Chrome, a particularly hard coating, is impervious to oxidation (or tarnish) and will last a long time showing just a little scratching.

Maintenance:

Simply wipe with a soft, damp cloth. A mild solution of household ammonia cleans heavy stains.

Comments:

Polished Chrome came of age with the automobile industry in the late 1920s, and eventually replaced nickel in kitchens and baths. Super-hard and tarnish-free, Polished Chrome was everything modern - and still is.
