JB Moore Tuba City Storm Pattern Navajo Rug Item # F1744

Circa 1940s | 48" x 74"

Beautifully woven in tones of black, white, red and gray, this mid-century Navajo rug is from JB Moore's Crystal Trading Post out of New Mexico. An exceptional weaving.

Note the peculiar line in the weaving in the upper right. This anomaly is deliberately woven in by the weaver, and called a ch’ihónít’i in Diné bizaad, the Navajo language. Often translated as 'spirit line' or 'pathway', this special detail has a fascinating history, and is interpreted many ways. This is a treasured feature, distinctive to Navajo weavings.

* 48" x 74"
* Historical Style: Traditional
* Condition Notes: Nicely intact and vibrant fibers.
