Salvaged from Good Samaritan Hospital, a Portland-based hospital that was first founded in 1875, this incredible and unique bas relief frieze panel was likely installed in the 1920s. It was once part of a suite of panels that surrounded the stately awning of the building's main entrance. The panel depicts a stunning flora and fauna scene, centering around a proud, preening peacock. Unusually, the chased and repoussé-worked panel is made from lead, rather than tin or copper. We clear-coated the panel with a matte lacquer, mounted it to a wood backing and framed it in a solid wood moulding. Today, this wonderful architectural relic would make a unique focal point as a piece of art.

  • Historical Style: Art Deco
  • Condition Notes: Plenty of wear, with stains and patina. To preserve the finish, we covered the surface in a layer of clear coat lacquer, encapsulating the lead.
