Hand-Carved Wooden Anvil Casting Pattern Item # F4897
Have you ever wondered how those incredible 125 pound blacksmith anvils were made? This is how: A craftsman hand-carved a wooden form, which was then pressed into wet sand. The molten iron was poured into the sand – this process is known as sand casting, and was popular for creating iron and bronze pieces.
- Historical Style: Industrial
- Condition Notes: We had to fill the base with some wood filler, in order to even out a section that was broken. This does not effect the structure or character of the piece.
