Iconic Ironrite Health Posture Ironing Chair Item # F4971
Designed by Herman Sperlich for the Ironrite Ironer Company, this steel and molded plywood chair was produced specifically for busy housewives who spent hours a day at the ironing board. As early understanding of ergonomics developed, good posture was equated with good health, leading to decorative arts designs that considered ways to help Americans through their days. Various versions of the Ironrite chair were developed before and after World War II. Our edition hails from the late 1930's, when the Ironrite featured birch and steel.
Condition notes: Fair vintage condition, with wear in the painted wood seat and rust on the base. We've clear coated the chair to prevent further decay.
